Angie Schwarzkopf, 93, of Carroll, died Saturday, December 07, 2013 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson, assisted by Deacon Gary Schon. Music will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir. Lector for the funeral mass will be Bob Schwarzkopf. Gift Bearers will be: Paula Papenfuss and Laura Papenfuss. Casket Bearers will be: Nick Papenfuss, Jimmy Papenfuss, Matt Schwarzkopf, Joel Schwarzkopf, Jeff Sievers, and Paul Sievers. The St. Anthony Nurses Alumni Association, St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary, and the Breda American Legion Auxiliary will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Breda. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, where there will be a Rosary at 4 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service by Holy Spirit Parish at 7 p.m. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday, where visitation will resume until the time of the funeral mass. Born on September 7, 1920 at Westside, Iowa, Angie Pauline was the daughter of Paul B. and Angie J. (Johnson) Freese. She spent her younger years in the Westside area and graduated from Westside High School in 1937. Angie then received a degree from St. Anthony School of Nursing. On October 22, 1951 she was united in marriage to Joseph G. Schwarzkopf at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll. Following their marriage the couple made their home 9 miles northwest of Breda on the farm where Joe was born. Throughout her working career Angie was employed as a private duty nurse for several local hospitals and worked at Carroll Medical Center before raising her family. Her last place of employment was at Twilight Acres Nursing Home. In 1991, Joe and Angie moved to the Carroll Community. In their younger years they enjoyed ballroom dancing and also spent many winters in Arizona. She enjoyed baseball as a result of Joe’s strong persuasion and was an avid Cub’s fan. Angie dearly loved her family. Her greatest joy was when all could be together for holidays or any other event that would bring all her kids home. She was very active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, St. Anthony Nurses Alumni Association, St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary, Breda American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her children: Dan Schwarzkopf and his wife Rhonda of Grimes, Paula Papenfuss and her husband Kurt of LaCrosse, WI, and Dick Schwarzkopf and his wife Jeannie of Wall Lake; five grandchildren: Joel Schwarzkopf, Matt Schwarzkopf, Nick Papenfuss, Jimmy Papenfuss, and Laura Papenfuss; one sister: Bernice Sievers of Lake City; her in-laws: Lucy Brooks of Chicago, Philip “Chick” (Betty) Schwarzkopf of Adel, Catherine Schwarzkopf of Milwaukee, WI, and Ruth Schwarzkopf of Carroll; as well as many special nieces and nephews. Her parents; and her husband Joseph preceded her in death.
