Bette Snyder

Bette Snyder, 75 of Carroll, died early Saturday morning, May 30, 2015 at her home in Carroll surrounded by her family, following a brief illness. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Music for the mass will be by Kate Cuddy, St. Lawrence Choir with Sherry Loughran as cantor. Lectors for the funeral mass will be Bette’s son, Randy Snyder; and Bette’s grandchildren: Rease Snyder, Josh Snyder, Megan Snyder, Emerald Siepker, and Riley Snyder. Gift Bearers will be Bette’s grandchildren: Lane Snyder, Jena Snyder, and Claire Snyder. Eucharistic Ministers will be Phil and Michele Phillips and Bette’s daughter-in-law, Lori Snyder. Casket Bearers will be Bette’s children: Dan Snyder, Randy Snyder, Rick Snyder, Glen Snyder, Lisa Siepker, Alan Snyder, and Doug Snyder. The St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4:30 p.m. on Monday where there will be a rosary at 5 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Born on August 7, 1939 at Carroll, Iowa, the eldest of ten children, Bette was the daughter of Lawrence and Josephine (Loew) Siepker. She attended Sts. Peter and Paul School, St. Angela Academy, and later graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School with the Class of 1957. On August 30, 1958, Bette was married to Roger “Rocker” Snyder. To this union were seven wonderful children. In 1983, Bette moved to the Carroll community where she held several jobs including working at New Hope Village for twelve years. Bette later did in home care for the elderly, most recently being employed with Caring Hands, a job she thoroughly loved and enjoyed. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching, and putting puzzles together. Bette loved her entire family and especially enjoyed being a mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and loved listening and singing holiday songs. Bette was a member of St. Lawrence Parish, Parish Ladies Guild, St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary and St. Anthony Hospice. Bette is survived by her children: Dan (Sharon) Snyder of Breda, Randy (Lori) Snyder of Breda, Rick (Teresa) Snyder of Lake City, Glen (Shelley) Snyder of Carroll, Lisa (Brian) Siepker of Carroll, Alan (Tina) Snyder of Auburn, and Doug (Danee') Snyder of Lake City; 18 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; her sisters: Janice Snyder of Breda, Mary (Gary) Rutten of North Carolina, Pat (Charlie) Hill of Carroll, Jane (Bryce) Beede of Wisconsin, and Cherie (Rick) Foley of Carroll; her brothers: Larry Siepker of Carroll, and Jack Siepker of Carroll; her sister-in-law, Janie Siepker of Mt. Carmel; as well as other extended relatives and many friends. Bette was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Josephine Siepker; and her brothers, Gary Siepker and Terry “Zippy” Siepker.
