Bill Becker

Bill Becker, age 53, of Carroll, died early Friday morning, March 11, 2011 at his residence in Carroll following complications with multiple sclerosis. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Lector for the funeral mass will be Marge Wolterman. Gift Bearers will be Ben Becker and Jessica and Erika Helton. Eucharistic Ministers will be Gary and Allen Becker. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Daryl and Joyce Hinners. Casket Bearers will be Mitchell Hinners, Tim Reilly, Boyd Helton, Michael Pedersen, Dennis Becker, and David Becker. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m., Monday where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m., followed by a Christian Wake Service by Holy Spirit Parish at 7 p.m. The casket will be taken to Holy Spirit Church at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday to lie in state until time of the funeral mass. Bill was born on August 28, 1957 at Carroll, Iowa the son of William and Mary Lou (Headlee) Becker. He spent his entire lifetime in the Carroll Community and attended Holy Spirit School and Kuemper High School, graduating with the Class of 1975. Throughout high school and following his formal education Bill worked at B&H Super Value. On June 27, 1981 Bill was married to Cindy Brincks at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. Bill later went to work at Farner Bocken where he was a supervisor until 2007 when he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. He was a talented woodworker and loved spending time with his family and enjoyed his 1967 Ford Mustang. In the summer months Bill enjoyed spending time at Lake View, boating and fishing. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Carroll. Survivors include his wife, Cindy Becker of Carroll; his children: Bill Becker of Carroll, and Carrie Becker of Cedar Falls; his parents, Bill and Mary Lou Becker of Carroll; his brother, Jeff “Spike” Becker and his wife Jackie of Carroll; his mother in-law Marge Hupp of Carroll; his brother in-laws: Dave Brincks of Eagle Grove, Mike (Joyce) Brincks of Madrid, Neil Brincks of Garland, TX, and Jeff Brincks of Cheyenne, WY, as well as the extended relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Randy; his nephew Dale Brincks; his father in-law Andrew Brincks, and his step father in-law, Dean Hupp.
