Cecilia Bueltel

Cecilia Bueltel, age 93 of Carroll, died Saturday, May 14, 2011 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011 at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Christian Symbols will be placed by Cecilia’s children. Pianist will be Marcy Anderson. Music will be by Justin and Tyler Badding and the St. Lawrence Choir. Lector for the funeral mass will be Jeanette Conde. Gift Bearers will be Karen Shields and Marilyn Pellouchoud. Eucharistic Ministers will be: Merlin and Coleen Bueltel and Jean Knobbe. Casket Bearers will be Cecilia’s grandsons: Michael Bueltel, Kyle Donovan, Jeffrey Shields, Vincent Conde IV, Matthew Bueltel, Dustin Bueltel, Trevor Pellouchoud, and Matthew Pellouchoud. The Carroll Catholic Daughters of Americas will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Burial will be at St. Augustine Cemetery in Halbur. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m., Friday, where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. by the Carroll Catholic Daughters of Americas followed by a Christian Wake Service by St. Lawrence Parish at 7 p.m. Born on July 9, 1917 at Templeton, Iowa, Cecilia was the daughter of J. Anton and Mary (Wiskus) Soppe. She attended country schools and following her formal education she helped her family at home on the farm. On January 18, 1944 she married Bernard Bueltel at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Carroll. They farmed near Halbur, raising seven children. They were members of St Augustine’s Parish in Halbur until 1975. Following Bernard’s death, Cecilia moved to Carroll. Cecilia was a cook at Tony’s restaurant in Carroll for 35 years, retiring at the age of 84. In retirement she enjoyed traveling to visit her children, and talking for hours on the phone with them. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends, crocheting, embroidery, making quilts for her family, feeding and watching her birds and tending to her flower garden. Cecilia’s greatest love was for her family, especially her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She loved hosting her family gatherings and cooking for everyone. She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish, Parish Ladies Guild, and the Carroll Catholic Daughters of Americas. Survivors include her children: Marlene Paahao and her husband Ernie of Waianae, Hawaii, Jeanette Conde and her husband Vince III of Fremont, CA, Wayne Bueltel and his wife Sharon of Lacona, IA, David Bueltel and his wife Roxanne of Lakeside, CA, Merlin Bueltel and his wife Coleen of Fremont, IA, Karen Shields of Sioux Falls, SD, and Marilyn Pellouchoud and her husband Matt of Brentwood, CA; her grandchildren: Michael Bueltel, Kyle Donovan, Jeffrey Shields, Vincent Conde IV, Matthew Bueltel, Dustin Bueltel, Trevor Pellouchoud, Matthew Pellouchoud, Tracy Knupp, Lesley Conde, Heather Bain-Donovan, Jennifer Shields, Sara Show, Ashley Pellouchoud, Stephanie Hobbs, Stacy Bueltel, Rebecca Shields, Mathew Brown, Stephanie Brown, Joe Lappin and Wendy Wolver. Her great-grandchildren: Joshua Morton, Donovan and Connor Bain, Kienen, Mackenzie and Kiera Donovan, Taylor Marie Conde, Pepper June Hobbs, and Nicole and Tiffany Wolver. One sister, Katherine Buelt of Pittsville, WI; her sisters in-law: Mary Soppe of Carroll, and Alvera Soppe of Wisconsin; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bernard in February 1975; a daughter in-law, Kathy Bueltel in May 1988; her brothers: Fred, Edward, Bernard, Leo, Lawrence, Clarence, William, Leonard, and Frank Soppe; her sister, Florence Schrad, and a sister in infancy, Mary Soppe.
