Dale Heisterkamp

Dale Heisterkamp, age 57, of Carroll, Iowa, died Saturday, May 16, 2009, of injuries received in an auto accident south of Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Johnson. The casket will be taken to the church at 8:30 A.M. Wednesday to lie in state until the time of the funeral mass. Lector will be Rick Heisterkamp. Gift Bearers will be Paige and Maci Overmohle. Eucharistic Minister will be Margene Heisterkamp. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tom Heinrichs, Ken Lux, Tom Wieland, Jim Strautman, Larry Thielen, Mike Bayer, Larry Moorlag, Grant Moorlag, Ryan Moorlag, Travis Fitzpatrick, Andrew Heuton, and Andrew Heuton, Jr. Casket Bearers will be Tim O’Neil, Orlando Vera, Dustin Heisterkamp, Curt Heisterkamp, Chad Kanne, and Justin Heisterkamp. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 P.M. Tuesday. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Heisterkamp was born on September 9, 1951, at Carroll, Iowa, the son of Lyle E. and Bernice K. (Freese) Heisterkamp. He spent his lifetime in the Carroll community and attended St. Joseph School and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1969. Following high school he was employed by the Safeway Grocery Store in Carroll and since 1979 has been a route driver for the Old Home Bread Company. On June 14, 1980, he was married to Deb Shupe at Audubon, Iowa. He was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation, National Rifle Association, and the Teamsters Union. Mr. Heisterkamp enjoyed his family, fishing, hunting, grilling, playing cards, Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Bears football, and Minnesota Twins baseball. Survivors include his children, Robyn Vera and her husband Orlando of Omaha, Nebr., Lindsay O’Neil and her husband Tim of Omaha, Nebr., and Andrew Heisterkamp and his fiancé Brandy Dyer of Omaha, Nebr.; four grandchildren, Isabella Vera, Ashton Vera, Wyatt Vera, and Nolan O’Neil; his special friend, Jean Lambertz of Carroll; his mother, Bernice Heisterkamp of Carroll; sisters, Debra Kanne and her husband Neil of Carroll, Janice Wollesen and her husband Robert of Edina, Minn., and Joleen Heisterkamp of Carroll; brothers, Rick Heisterkamp and his wife Margene of Carroll, Dean Heisterkamp of Carroll, and Douglas Heisterkamp and his fiancé Kim Perry of Plainview, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Heisterkamp; infant brothers, Gary and Dennis Heisterkamp; and a nephew, Ryan Kanne.
