David Daniel

David Daniel, 67 of Sioux City and formerly of Carroll, died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City, Iowa. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Music for the funeral mass will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir. Lector will be Linda Halbur. Gift Bearers will be Samuel Daniel, Michaela Daniel, Helen Henkelman, and Albert Daniel. Casket Bearers will be: Fletcher Poncy, Wesley Kramer, Ivan Halbur, Joe Henkelman, Jeff Daniel, and Lori Dentlinger. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 p.m. on Wednesday where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 p.m. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 9:30 a.m. Thursday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass. David Erwin Daniel was born on April 21, 1947 at Carroll, Iowa the son of Vincent and Caroline (Weber) Daniel. He spent his younger years in the Arcadia area and attended St. John Grade School and later graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School. On October 4, 1975 he was united in marriage to Denice Badding at St. John’s Catholic Church in Arcadia. The couple made their home in the Carroll Community and later separated. Throughout his working career he was employed at Fareway Foods, Brenny’s Grocery, New Hope Village, and worked several years for Lou Walsh Motors in Carroll. David loved spending time with his children, playing cards, baking cookies, and doing anything outdoors. He was an avid fan of western movies and Johnny Cash. For the past four years he was residing in Sioux City where he could be closer to his children. David was a former member of Holy Spirit Parish in Carroll. Survivors include his children: Stephanie Kramer and her husband Wesley of Sioux City, Nichole Poncy and her husband Fletcher of Iowa Falls, Samuel Daniel of Sioux City, and Michaela Daniel of Sioux City; his grandchildren: Ellianna and Wade Kramer and Natalie and Sophia Poncy; his sisters: Helen Henkelman of Carroll and JoAnn (John) Olberding of Carroll; his brothers: Albert (Mary) Daniel of Carroll, Ray (Jane) Daniel of Carroll, John (Judy) Daniel of Carroll, and Don (Linda) Daniel of Maudlin, SC; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. David was preceded in death by his parents; his brother John Marvin Daniel in infancy; and his brother-in-law, John Henkelman.
