Delbert Brincks

Delbert Brincks, age 81, of Carroll, Iowa, died early Thursday, November 5, 2009, at his residence in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M., Saturday, November 7, 2009, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Schott. Lector will be Bonnie Danner. Gift Bearers will be granddaughters, Rachel Brincks, Paige Geister, and Holly Myrtue. Eucharistic Ministers will be Murray Monson and Wayne and Mary Lou Reiman. Casket Bearers will be grandchildren, Tonja Geister, Heath Geister, Joe Brincks, Alex Brincks, Kristine Brincks, Lisa Brincks, Dr. Nathan Monson, and Lucas Monson. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 P.M. Friday. A rosary will be prayed at 4 P.M. Friday by the Carroll Knights of Columbus. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Friday by St. Lawrence Parish. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or church for the Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation. Mr. Brincks was born on June 10, 1928, at Willey, Iowa, the son of Anton and Clara (Huelsing) Brincks. He attended St. Joseph School in Carroll and received his General Educational Development diploma in 1970. On September 13, 1949, he was married to Dolora :Poeppe at St. Thomas Church in Emmetsburg, Iowa. The couple made their home in Carroll. In his earlier years Delbert worked for the Ocoma Foods Company and in 1950 began his employment with Juergens Produce and Feed Company and retired after forty-five years of service to the company. In retirement he worked part time for the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. He was a member of St. Lawrence Parish and Knights of Columbus. He volunteered extensively at St. Lawrence Parish and Kuemper High School and was a sixteen gallon donor to the Red Cross Bloodmobile. Delbert dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed walking, going to the Recreation Center, and watching western movies. Survivors include his wife, Dolora Brincks of Carroll; his children, Dorothy Geister and her husband Gary of Carroll, Dean Brincks and his wife Barb of Palatine, Ill., Darwin Brincks and his wife Jennifer of Carroll, and Donna Monson and her husband Murray of Boone; grandchildren, Tonja Geister, Heath Geister, Holly Myrtue and her husband Aaron, Paige Geister, Kristine Brincks, Lisa Brincks, Joe Brincks and his fiancé Angie Schaull, Alex Brincks, Rachel Brincks, Dr. Nathan Monson, and Lucas Monson; his brothers, Melvin Brincks and his wife Marlene of Roselle and LeRoy Brincks and his wife Darlene of Denison; sisters, Alvina Poeppe and her husband Wayne of Eagleville, Missouri, Mary Ann Schlichte of Spirit Lake, Bernice Halbur and her husband LaVern of Van Meter, and Rose Mary Martin and her husband Charles of Waucoma; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Venteicher of Carroll, Fern and Ken Dobbins of Sioux City, Ken and Ruth Poeppe of Emmetsburg, Phyllis Lindsey of Laurens, Dale and Bea Poeppe of Emmetsburg, Pat and Howard Metzger of Estherville, and Zeline and Joe Gappa of Emmetsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Shirley Brincks, in infancy; and a brother, Irwin Brincks.
