Dennis Huegerich

Dennis Huegerich, age 67, of rural Carroll died Monday, June 29, 2009, at his residence of an apparent heart condition. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Friday, July 3, 2009, at Holy Family Church in Lidderdale. The Celebrants will be Father Ed Tiedeman and Father James Bruch. Lector will be Neil Kanne. Gift Bearers will be grandchildren, Chelsey Huegerich, Josh Halbur, and Joel Halbur. Mass Servers will be grandchildren, Elizabeth and Michael Halbur. Eucharistic Ministers will be Vernon and Phyllis Drees. Casket Bearers will be Tim Huegerich, Mike Huegerich, Jeff Huegerich, Lonnie Kastle, Buck Kastle, and Chad Ross. Burial will be at Holy Family Cemetery in Lidderdale. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 P.M. Thursday. A rosary will be prayed at 4 P.M. Thursday. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Thursday by Holy Family Parish. Mr. Huegerich was born on July 12, 1941, at Fonda, Iowa, the son of Henry and Genevieve (Grossman) Huegerich. He spent most of his lifetime in the Lidderdale community and attended Holy Family School and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1959. In June 1963 he was married to Jean Tiefenthaler at St. Bernard Church in Breda, Iowa. Mr. Huegerich farmed nine miles northeast of Carroll until the late 1980’s when he became the owner/operator of an over the road trucking company. He retired in 2005 due to ill health. He was a member of Holy Family Parish at Lidderdale. Mr. Huegerich enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, tinkering with things, western movies, and playing golf. Survivors include his children, Steve Huegerich and his wife Brenda of Coon Rapids, Becky Halbur and her husband Rick of Wall Lake, Matt Huegerich and his wife Angelina of Wall Lake, and Justin Huegerich and his fiancé Amber Venteicher of Carroll; five grandchildren, Chelsey Huegerich, Elizabeth Halbur, Michael Halbur, Josh Halbur, and Joel Halbur; his brothers, Kenneth Huegerich and his wife Judy of Mt. Carmel, and Dale Huegerich and his wife Mary Ann of Exira; and sisters, Margaret Grant of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Karen Brigman and her husband Gene of Aberdeen, North Carolina, Sandra Gardels of Dover, Delaware, Eileen Ross and her husband Daru of Carroll, and Janis Kastle of Carroll. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Keith Huegerich in 1982.
