Ethel B. Lampe

Ethel Lampe, 89 of Carroll, died Saturday, July 6, 2013 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Music for the mass will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir with John Wagner as soloist. Lector will be Tom Schapman. Gift Bearers will be Ethel’s grandchildren. Eucharistic Ministers will be John and Diane Staples. Casket Bearers will be: Larry Boyce, Loren Boyce, Greg Hacker, Dominic Julich, Jake Kalkhoff and Don Kitt. The Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday where there will be at rosary at 4 p.m. by the Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas and a Christian Wake Service at 6 p.m. by Holy Spirit Parish. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 9 a.m. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass. Born on April 12, 1924 at Carroll, Iowa, Ethel Bridget was the daughter of John and Bridget (Wieland) Boyce. She spent her entire lifetime in the Carroll community and attended St. Joseph’s Grade School and later graduated from St. Angela’s Academy. Following her schooling Ethel was employed at Rettenmeier Drug Store. On October 30, 1951 Ethel was united in marriage to Lawrence Lampe at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Carroll. Ethel was a gifted homemaker and enjoyed: sewing, cooking, baking, gardening and especially caring for her grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family and hosting family gatherings for the holidays. Ethel was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Parish Ladies Guild, and the Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Survivors include her husband Lawrence Lampe of Carroll; her children: Mike Lampe and wife Kathy of Carroll, and Pat Staples and husband Gary of Carroll; five grandchildren: Josh Lampe, James Lampe, Christina Lampe, Eric Staples, and Trista Staples; three great-grandchildren: Shelby Wiederin, Madelynne Weitl and Peyton Staples; her nephew, Larry (Kay) Boyce of Carroll; her nieces:, Linda (Sal) Lahey of Florida, Louise Barrett of Arizona and Lois Boyce of Illinois; as well as other extended relatives and many friends. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers: James Boyce and Lawrence (Geneva) Boyce; and her mother-in-law Theresa Lampe.
