Eunice Stark

Eunice Stark, 86 of Breda, died peacefully, Saturday, April 21, 2012 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Breda. The Celebrant will be Fr. Lynn Bruch. Music will be by Jake Gute as pianist, Katelyn Renze as soloist, and Tyler Badding as violinist. Mass Servers will be Eunice’s great-grandchildren: Karsyn Thomsen, Gabe Lux, and Parker Badding. Lectors for the funeral mass will be Eunice’s niece, Kris Flater and Eunice’s great-grandchildren. Gift Bearers will be Eunice’s granddaughters: Tami Lux, Tara Thomsen, and Tasha Badding. Eucharistic Ministers will be: Madonna Boeckman, Bev Bruning and Chris Koster. Casket Bearers will be: Kevin Lux, Mark Thomsen, Ron Badding, Steve Kofmehl, David Kofmehl, Tom Kofmehl, Carl Snyder, and Dick Stark. The Breda American Legion Auxiliary will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Burial will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery at Breda. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Breda after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday where there will be a rosary at 5 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Breda and online condolences may be left for Eunice’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com. Born on July 16, 1925 at Templeton, Iowa, Eunice M. was the daughter of Fred and Cecelia (Friedman) Stueve. Eunice spent her early childhood years in the Templeton Community and later attended St. Joseph’s School in Dedham. On July 22, 1944 she was married to Willard Stark at St. Ambrose Cathedral in Des Moines by Fr. Gerald Deere. Following her husband’s military service they returned to the Breda area. Throughout her lifetime Eunice was active within the parish as a lay distributor, Parish Ladies Guild, and also made embroidered baptismal gowns for the new babies that were baptized in the parish. She helped organize and participated in the monthly Bingo at the Carroll Health Center. Eunice loved gardening, cooking, and baking and passed many of her recipes down to her family. She enjoyed her many friends and was active in several card clubs with them. Eunice was dedicated to her faith and her family and was very proud of her entire family. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Parish, Parish Ladies Guild, National Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Breda American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her son Gary Stark and his wife Carol of Carroll; three granddaughters: Tami (Kevin) Lux of Cedar Rapids, Tara (Mark) Thomsen of Carroll, and Tasha (Ron) Badding of Carroll; 10 great-grandchildren: Nate, Gabe and Jack Lux; Kennedy, Karsyn and Kora Thomsen; and Parker, Mallory, Sophie, and Brock Badding; one sister, Norma Jean Kofmehl of Holstein; one sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Stark of Breda; as well as many nieces, nephews, and many friends. Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; husband Willard in December of 1987; and her brother, Eugene Stueve.
