Florence Seidl

Florence Seidl, age 91, of Dedham, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Village Nursing Home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 P.M., Friday, April 25, 2008, at St. Joseph Church in Dedham. The Celebrant will be Father Anthony Pick assisted by Deacon Louis Meiners. The casket will be taken to the church at noon Friday to lie in state until the time of the funeral mass. Lector will be Tom Seidl. Gift Bearers will be grandchildren, Jane Gunther, Yvette Hayes, Michael Brown, Eric Brown, and Daniel Brown. Mass Servers will be Brittany and Danny Baumhover. Eucharistic Minister will be Donna Ankenbauer. Casket Bearers will be Ron Brus, Dean Garnett, Bob Nair, Dick McMahon, Denny Pierce, and Dave Seidl. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Dedham. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 P.M. Thursday. A rosary will be prayed at 3 P.M. Thursday. There will be a Christian wake service at 8 P.M. Thursday by St. Joseph Parish. Mrs. Seidl was born on July 15, 1916, at Gray, Iowa, the daughter of Hugo and Margaret (Ehrichs) Brus. She spent her younger years in the Gray community and attended White Bear Country School and graduated from Gray High School in 1934. Following high school she played piano for the Harmony Boys Band from Manning. On June 18, 1946, she was married to Ludwig “Hookie” Seidl at St. Joseph Church in Dedham with Father Henry Pick officiating. The couple made their home in Dedham. Mrs. Seidl moved to Sioux Falls six years ago to near her daughter. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish, Parish Ladies Guild, and the Dedham Firettes. She enjoyed her grandchildren, sewing, baking, gardening, playing cards, and music. Survivors include her daughters, Linda Schunneman and her husband Bob of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Lila Brown and her husband Norman of Knoxville; grandchildren, Jane Gunther, Yvette Hayes and her husband Ronald, Michael Brown and his wife Robyn, Eric Brown and his wife Lauren, and Daniel Brown; ten great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Alvina Bies of Salem, South Dakota, Leona Seidl of Coon Rapids, and Mary Meyer of Carroll; brothers-in-law, Henry Seidl of Carroll and Joseph Seidl of Roselle; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ludwig Seidl, in May 1989; sisters, Rosella McMahon and Ann Nielsen; brother, Leroy Brus; brothers-in-law, Harold Nielsen, Melvin McMahon, John Bies, Merlyn Nair, Keith Jenkins, Rupert Seidl, Frank Mayer, Bill Dillon, and Frank Meyer; and sisters-in-law, Lucille Brus, Emma Nair, Martha Jenkins, Eleanora Mayer, Hilda Dillon, Phyllis Seidl, and Bernilda Seidl.
