Helen Ann Wessling

Helen Ann Wessling, 84 of Breda, died Friday, November 7, 2014 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Breda. The Celebrant will be Fr. Gary Snyder. Mass Servers will be Matt Wessling and Caleb Wessling. Music for the funeral mass will be by Marilyn Hundling and the St. Bernard’s Choir. Lector will be Jean Eichmeier. Gift Bearers will be Madison Wessling and Tiffany Jacobs. Eucharistic Minister will be Bill Stork. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Helen’s granddaughters. Casket Bearers will be grandchildren: Alec Wessling, Jared Greiner, Jacob Wessling, Jordan Wessling, Nicole Wessling, Melissa Torres, Elizabeth Wessling, and Tiffany Jacobs. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The Breda Catholic Order of Foresters will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Friends may call at St. Bernard's Church in Breda after 4 p.m. on Monday where there will be a rosary at 5 p.m. by the Breda Catholic Order of Foresters and a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at the Sharp Funeral Home in Breda at 9 a.m. on Tuesday until time of the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left at the church for St. Bernard's Choir or the St. Bernard's Cemetery Fund. Helen Ann was born on May 6, 1930 at Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Helen (Julich) Stork. She attended school in Mt. Carmel through the 5th grade and later graduated from St. Bernard’s High School with the Class of 1948. Following her schooling Helen was employed at Breda Hardware and Prenger & Hiebler Market until 1951. On January 22, 1951 she was united in marriage to Don Wessling at St. Bernard’s Church in Breda with Fr. JP Hausman officiating. To this union were 12 children; and her children and her husband were always the love of her life. From 1978-1999 Helen was employed at Zeke’s in Breda where she waited tables and also was a cook. She loved to dance, sing in mixed choir, bird watch, and star gaze. Helen also enjoyed playing slot machines, puzzles and crosswords and was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals Fan. She loved decorating for the holidays and hosting her entire family. Helen was a member of St. Bernard’s Parish, Parish Choir, Breda Catholic Order of Foresters, and National Catholic Society of Foresters. Helen is survived by 5 sons: Jim (Amy) Wessling of Rosemount, MN, Jerry Wessling of Breda, Tom (Norma) Wessling of Breda, Bob (Linda) Wessling of Carroll, and Joe (Tammy) Wessling of Carroll; 6 daughters: Karen Wessling of Boulder, CO, Marilyn Wessling of Carroll, Christy (Jim) Sondall of Richland, WA, Julie Wilhite of Breda, Kathy (Kellie) Bork of Remsen, and Ann (Michael) Solum of Apply Valley, MN; 20 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Julie Stork of Carroll, and Sister Mary Myron of LaCrosse, WI; her sister-in-law, Ann Stork of Ortega, CA; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Don; a daughter, JoEllen Wessling; a granddaughter, Mallory Jo Wessling; her sisters: Margie Ballard, Josie Reinken, and Paula Stork; her brothers: Vic, Richard, Johnny, Matt, Fred, Joe an Hank Stork.
