Jerome Dentlinger

Jerome Dentlinger, age 85, of Carroll, Iowa, died Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 P.M., Saturday, December 3, 2011, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Johnson. Con-celebrant will be Father Andrew Hoffmann. The casket will be taken to the church at 11 A.M. Saturday to lie in state until the time of the funeral mass. Lectors will be Jerry’s granddaughters, Brittany Dentlinger and Denise Dentlinger. Gift Bearers will be grandchildren, Curt Dentlinger, Kim Johnson, Jessica Grossman, Tiffany Klehn, Jenny Roetman, Brittany Dentlinger, David Dentlinger, and Denise Dentlinger. Eucharistic Ministers will be Art and Beulah Imming. Music will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir. Casket Bearers will be Daryl Fischer, Ron Halbur, Glenn Halbur, Bev Davis, Darrell Snyder, and Kent Riesberg. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 P.M. Friday. A rosary will be prayed at 4 P.M. Friday followed by a Christian wake service at 6:30 P.M. Friday by Holy Spirit Parish. Online condolences may be left for Jerry’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com. Jerry was born on May 28, 1926, at Halbur, Iowa, the son of Philip and Katherine (Eischeid) Dentlinger. He attended St. Augustine School. Jerry and Elaine Imming were married on August 16, 1948, at Saint Peter and Paul Church in Carroll with his uncle, Father Otto Dentlinger officiating. Jerry farmed most of his life helping his dad on the family farm, then farming on his own and held various other jobs including the maintenance department at the Carroll Municipal Golf Course. In 1972 Jerry and Elaine bought an acreage east of Carroll where he farmed and raised feeder pigs. They sold the acreage in 1988 and moved to Carroll and in 2003 moved to Glidden. Jerry became a resident of Regency Park Nursing Home in 2006. Jerry enjoyed farming, traveling, golfing, playing cards, and his grandchildren and their activities. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Carroll. Survivors include his wife, Elaine Dentlinger of Carroll; three sons, Leroy Dentlinger and his wife Julie of Gill, Colorado, Don Dentlinger and his wife Gail of Carroll, and Jerry Dentlinger and his wife Ann of Glidden; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; his twin brother, James Dentlinger and his wife Rita of Glidden; three sisters, Angie Riesberg of Papillion, Nebr., Gladys Halbur of Halbur, and Jeanette Venner of Carroll; and brothers-in law and sisters-in-law, Clarence Fischer of Carroll, Dolores Snyder of Carroll, Art and Beulah Imming of Fonda, and Eileen Imming of Ft. Dodge. He was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, Herman and Mary Imming; a sister, Agatha Fischer; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Vincent Halbur, Edward Venner, Lester Riesberg, Norbert J. Snyder, Elmer and Joan Imming, Merle and Dolores Imming, Herbert and Marilyn Imming, Marvin and Sue Imming, Melvin Imming, and Wilfred and Estella Schulte.
