Katherine Broich

Katherine Rose Broich, age 82, of Carroll, died Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the Carroll Heath Center, surrounded by her family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2015 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Con-celebrants will be Fr. Lynn Bruch, and Fr. Ed Girres. Music will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir. Lector will be David Wieland. Gift Bearers will be Katherine’s great-grandchildren. Casket Bearers will be Katherine’s grandchildren. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Visitation will be held at Holy Spirit Church beginning at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning, and will continue until the time of the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left at the church, to be directed to the family, to be distributed to organizations of their choice. Born on May 5, 1933 at Willey, Iowa, Katherine Rose was the daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Hoffman) Brincks. She grew up in the Willey area, and in 1951 she graduated from St. Angela’s Academy in Carroll. On September 30, 1952 Katherine was united in marriage to Harold “Hank” Broich at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Willey with Fr. H.J. Dries officiating. The couple made their home north of Carroll, where she was a devoted homemaker, and also helped her husband in their farming operation. Katherine enjoyed watching the Home Shopping Network, shopping, and going out to eat with her friends. Katherine was very proud of her home, and enjoyed spending time at home. Most of all Katherine enjoyed spending time with her family. Katherine was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. Katherine is survived by her children: Randy J. Broich of Johnston, Rhonda K. (David) Wieland of Algona, and David H. Broich of Lake View; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; her long-time companion Bill Baumhover of Carroll; her siblings: Ray (Ruth Ann) Brincks of Carroll, Albert Brincks of Carroll, Larry (Lynne) Brincks of Carroll, Cletus Brincks of Carroll, Marvin (Gloria) Brincks of Alta Vista, Dennis (Cindy) Brincks of Atlanta, GA; Louise (Jack) Clark of Everly, and Bonnie (Ed) Anthofer of Coon Rapids; her sisters-in-law: Lota (Claire) Hannasch of Tracy, MN, Marie (Neil) Steinkamp of Lake View, and Virginia Broich of Lake View; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold “Hank” Broich in 1987; sisters: Elsie Eischeid, Julitta Behrens, and Helen Tiefenthaler.
