Kenneth Stork

Kenny Stork, age 49, of Breda, Iowa, died Saturday, December 20, 2008, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll of complications Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M., Wednesday, December 24, 2008, at St. Bernard Church in Breda. The Celebrant will be Father Joe Dillinger. Lector will be Brenda Ridings. Gift Bearers will be Phyllis Davis, Ruth Lappe, Susan Benedict, Patricia Stork, Margaret Gross, Mary Eickman, Michele Stork, Sandra Hackerson, and Brenda Bruggeman. Mass Servers will be Collin Stork, Matt Wessling, and Colby Lappe. Eucharistic Ministers will be Bill and Pat Stork and Amy Stork. Casket Bearers will be Dale Steinkamp, LeRoy Steinkamp, Kevin Nieland, Kenny Schettler, Dean Bruning, Mike Wiederin, Chuck Malm, and Jim Macke. Burial will be at St. Bernard Cemetery in Breda with military honors conducted by the Breda American Legion. Friends may call after 3:30 P.M. Tuesday at St. Bernard Church in Breda. A rosary will be prayed at 4 P.M. Tuesday. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Tuesday by St. Bernard Parish. Memorials may be left at the church in Mr. Stork’s name. Mr. Stork was born on June 12, 1959, at Carroll, Iowa, the son of Matt H. and Mary Ann (Grabner) Stork. He grew up in the Breda community and attended St. Bernard School and after the family moved to Carroll he attended St. Lawrence School and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1977. He entered the U.S. Air Force in December 1977 and was honorably discharged in January 1983 at the rank of Sergeant. Following military service he was employed by the Pella Corporation in Carroll. On December 29, 1984, he was married to Michelle Warnke at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The family moved to Breda in 1988 when Mr. Stork and his brother, Henry Stork purchased Zeke’s Place in Breda. They operated the Breda restaurant until 2002 when Mr. Stork became manager of the Carroll Municipal Golf Course, a position he holds to this day. He was a member of St. Bernard Parish and Breda American Legion. Mr. Stork was a people person and enjoyed playing golf and watching his kids play golf, gambling, fishing, watching golf on television, working, and family activities. Survivors include his wife, Michelle Stork of Breda; children, Cortney Young and her husband T.J. of Memphis, Missouri, Curtis Stork of Breda, and Matt Stork of Breda; two month old twin granddaughters, Zoe and Mya Young; sisters, Phyllis Davis and her husband Larry of Stuart, Ruth Lappe and her husband Fred of Auburn, Susan Benedict and her husband Robert of Highland, Calif., Patricia Stork and her special friend Leo Lindner, Jr. of Deloit, Margaret Gross and her husband Patrick of Council Bluffs, Mary Eickman and her husband Lynn of Littleton, Colo., Michele Stork and her special friend Frank Gregorsky of Vienna, Virginia, and Sandra Hackerson and her husband Ron of Ames; and brothers, Alan Stork and his wife LuJean of Carroll, Robert Stork and his wife MaryLou of Lake View, Donald Stork and his wife Marsha of Breda, Thomas Stork and his wife Mary Jean of Carroll, William Stork and his wife Pat of Lidderdale, Gordon Stork and his wife Carol of Clive, Matt Stork Jr. and his wife Teri of Lake City, and Henry Stork and his wife Amy of Altus, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Chris Lappe.
