Linda Mack

Linda Mack, 76 of Carroll, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by her family. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll with a prayer service at 7 p.m. led by Peg Scheidt. Linda Louise (Lentz) Mack was born on September 17, 1947, in New Hampton, Iowa, daughter of Vincent & Luella Lentz. Linda graduated from New Hampton High School in 1965, then attended and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa. At UNI, she met Dan Mack, and married in 1970. Linda taught business education at Waterloo Columbus High School, then moved to Los Angeles where Dan would attend physical therapy school. Following his graduation, they returned to Iowa and made their home in Carroll, where they raised three children together. She continued teaching initially at Kuemper, then Carroll High School, until retirement. Gift-giving was one of many of Linda’s unique talents. She had an unmatched ability to find the perfect way to make those she loved feel special, regardless of the occasion. In addition to physical gifts, she offered gifts of her love, advice, an empathetic ear, and a deep devotion to everyone with whom she crossed paths. Linda lived humbly while enjoying life in the fresh air. Frequently seen riding her bike or enjoying walks around Carroll, Linda gained additional joy in life from golfing, tending to her garden, designing personalized photo gifts for family & friends, and creating endless smiles and laughs as an amazing wife, mother & grandmother. Her selflessness knew no bounds. Though her generosity will never be forgotten, her final act of kindness was being an organ donor, something she was passionate about. Linda is survived by her husband, Dan, of Carroll; her children Brent (Victoria) of Plainfield, Illinois, Cori (Travis) of Chicago, and Bryan (Samantha) of Denver; her grandchildren Savannah, Claire & Hudson of Denver, and Sage of Plainfield; her brothers Bob (Joan), Jim (Linda), Mike (Lorena), and Steve Lentz; and her brother-in-law Bruce (Lori) Mack. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dan’s parents, Francis & Phyllis Mack of Corning, Iowa, sister-in-law, Celia Lentz, and brother-in-law, Andy Mack. Linda will be deeply missed as we will continually observe the voids she leaves behind. Please help us honor her by doing something kind for someone today and following a pattern of kindness to others, because this is how Linda lived her life.
