Lorraine Ebersole

Lorraine Ebersole, 88 of Carroll, died Wednesday evening, August 16, 2017 at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Mass servers will be Carter Wittrock and Caden Wittrock. Music will be by Kate Cuddy and Kathleen Macke. Lector for the funeral mass will be Maci Wittrock. Gift Bearers will be: Jason Wittrock, Brent Wittrock, and Kent Wittrock. Eucharistic Minister will be Dave Wittrock. Casket Bearers will be: Jason Wittrock, Brent Wittrock, Kent Wittrock, Darrell Ohde, Glenn Sturm, Bill Sturm and Mike Sturm. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday at Holy Spirit Church and will continue until time of the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left at the church for Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation or a charity of choice in Lorraine’s name. Born on June 11, 1929 at Templeton, Iowa, Lorraine was the daughter of Frank X. and Barbara (Handlos) Sturm. She spent her younger years in the Maple River and Breda areas and attended school through the 8th grade. Lorraine later attained her GED, an accomplishment she was very proud of. In February of 1948 she married Carl M. Johnson. To this union were three children: Gregg, Lynn, and Todd. The couple later separated. On July 10, 1967, Lorraine married William Ebersole. The couple made their home in Carroll where she was employed at JC Penney and Northwestern Bell. Lorraine also sold for AVON and worked the food sample displays at local grocery stores. Lorraine enjoyed gambling, playing bingo, making peanut brittle, and loved spending time with her family. Lorraine was a member of Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. Lorraine is survived by her children: Gregg (Damaris) Johnson of Mission Hills, KS, Lynn (Dave) Wittrock of Carroll, and Todd Johnson and friend Michelle Loew of Carroll; her grandchildren: Jason (Mindy) Wittrock and their children: Carter, Maci, and Caden; Brent (Katie) Wittrock and their children: Audrey, Avery and Walter; Kent (Traci) Wittrock and their children: Logan, Maddox, and Parker; her step-daughter: Laurie (John) Peter of Fonda; her step-granddaughter, Gleny (Daniel) Barohona – Castro; her sisters-in-law: Lois Sturm of Carroll and Deloris Sturm of Carroll; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William Ebersole; and her siblings: Frank (Liz) Sturm, John (Irene) Sturm, Albert Sturm, Ed Sturm, Rose (Arnold) Odendahl, Frances (Lawrence) Haukap, and Ann (Lester) Ohde.
