Marguerite Broich

Marguerite Broich, 88 of Carroll, died Monday, February 22, 2016 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Craig Collison. Music for the funeral mass will be by Kate Cuddy and the St. Lawrence Choir. Lectors will be Marguerite’s grandchildren. Gift Bearers will be Marguerite’s daughters, Barbara Gronstal, Paulette Jenne, and Bonnie Bryant. Eucharistic Ministers will be Margaret Gronstal and Craig Ragaller. Casket Bearers will be Marguerite’s grandchildren: Eric Gronstal, Aaron Gronstal, CJ Jenne, Jessica Jenne, Joseph Bryant and Elizabeth Bryant. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday at St. Lawrence Church and continue until time of the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left at the church for Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Marguerite’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com. Born on November 26, 1927 at Mt. Carmel, Iowa, Marguerite was the daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Leiting) Loeffelholz. She attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School and later in life received her diploma. Spending her childhood on her family’s farm instilled hard work values. On November 16, 1948, she was united in marriage to Paul Broich at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Following their marriage Paul and Marguerite lived in the Mt. Carmel area and later built their home in Carroll where her husband co-owned and operated Paul and Waynes with Wayne Tiefenthaler. Marguerite was an accomplished homemaker and raised her family. Marguerite enjoyed various card games; especially bridge. She also enjoyed crocheting, singing and dancing. She always cherished her time at the lake and traveling with her family and friends. She had good taste in fashion and loved shopping. The last several years Marguerite was a resident at Sunny Brook in Carroll and enjoyed the various activities with the staff and residents. Marguerite’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish, and Parish Ladies Guild where she served as past president. Marguerite is survived by her daughters: Barbara Gronstal and her husband Bernie of Tempe, AZ, Paulette Jenne and her husband Lee of Palatine, IL, and Bonnie Bryant and her husband Jon of Florida; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Ella Mae Staiert of Harlan, Joann Manemann of St. Charles, MN, Alfred Loeffelholz of South Dakota, Paul (Kay) Loeffelholz of Bozeman, MT, Mary Ann Ragaller of Westside, Ralph (Sandy) Loeffelholz of Cedar Rapids, and Don (Karen) Leoffelholz of Kansas City, MO; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Marie (Neil) Steinkamp of Lake View, Lota (Clair) Hannasch of Tracy, MN, and Virginia Broich of Lake View; as well as many extended relatives and friends. Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Broich; her daughter, Jean Marie Broich in infancy; her siblings: Neoma Ludwig, Walter Loeffelholz, Mardella Baumhover, and Mary Madelyn Loeffelholz in infancy. Marguerite's family will host a gathering at Sunny Brook of Carroll on Friday from 6:30-9PM in her memory for a time of sharing and refreshments.
