Marilyn Bennett

Marilyn Bennett, 81, of Carroll, died Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2014 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Mass servers will be Brianna, Michael, and Tyler Lux. Music will be by Kate Cuddy, and the St. Lawrence Choir. Lector will be Kay Teague. Gift bearers will be Marilyn’s great-grandchildren. Eucharistic ministers will be Charlene Lux, Karla Niemier, and Ginger Reis. Casket bearers will be Todd Puck, Jared Olberding, Jason Goldsberry, Brad Davidson, Kraig Lux, Kevin Lux, Greg Lux, and Jeff Webber. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, on Sunday, after 2:30 p.m. where there will be a Rosary prayed at 3 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 5 p.m. The casket will be moved to the church on Monday morning, at 9:30 a.m. where visitation will resume until the time of the funeral mass. Born on July 5, 1933 in Carroll, Iowa, Marilyn Louise was the daughter of Earl and Mildred (Hein) Lux. She grew up in the Carroll community and attended Sts. Peter and Paul School. After her education Marilyn worked at the Carroll Café. On May 1, 1951 Marilyn was united in marriage to John Bennett at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll, by Most Reverend Frank Greteman. The couple made their home in the Carroll community. Marilyn worked for the Carroll Community School in the food service department for 28 years. Over the years she also baby sat her family, and out of her home, worked at the Carroll Country Club Kitchen, waitressed at the Highway Café, and sold Avon, and Fuller Brush products. She enjoyed cards, bingo, and visiting with everyone she encountered, but most of all Marilyn enjoyed the time she spent with her family most. Marilyn was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. Left to celebrate Marilyn’s life are her children: Michelle “Shelly” (Bruce) Davidson, of Carroll, and Mike Bennett of Carroll; a son-in-law, Garry Puck of Manning; seven grandchildren: Brenda (Jared) Olberding of Carroll, Todd (Julie) Puck of Bennington, NE, Sara (Jason) Goldsberry of Pleasant Hill, Brad Davidson of Carroll, Jessica Davidson of Madrid, Jami Davidson of Madrid, and Skye Cameron Bennett of Carroll; 11 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Jerry (Mary) Lux of Carroll, Kay Teague of Carroll, Ginger (Larry) Reis of Greenfield, Sherry (Jack) Webber of Carroll, and Barb (Lyle) Rood of Templeton; her brother-in-laws, and sister-in-laws: Charlene Lux of Breda, Doris Henderson of West Virginia, Jerry (Lois) Bennett of Alden, Sandy Bennett of Iowa Falls, and Denny (Jane) Bennett of Florida. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, a daughter Rebecca “Becky” Puck, and her siblings: Robert Lux, and Jolene Pick.
