Marvin Danner

Marvin Danner, age 53, of Carroll, Iowa, died Monday, April 19, 2010, of injuries received in a motorcycle/auto accident at the east edge of Carroll on Highway 30. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Friday, April 23, 2010, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Brian Danner. Con-celebrant will be Father Joe Dillinger. Lector will be Kathy Ewoldt. Gift Bearers will be Liz Danner and Shaun O’Tool. Mass Servers will be Alex Danner, Emily Shook, and Chase Danner. Eucharistic Ministers will be Lorraine Danner and Larry and Vicki Reiling. Honorary Pallbearers will be Andy Schmitz, Louis Schmitz, Louis Schon, Darrell Nielsen, and members of the Harley Owners Group. Casket Bearers will be Mark Soyer, Kevin Feld, Tim Nepple, Jerome Gute, Gary Handlos, and Ken Danzer. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 P.M. Thursday. A rosary will be prayed at 4 P.M. Thursday. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Thursday by St. Lawrence Parish. Marvin was born on February 20, 1957, at Carroll, Iowa, the son of William W. and Anna C. (Greving) Danner, Sr. He spent his lifetime in the Willey and Carroll communities and attended St. Mary School and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1975. On February 17, 1979, he was married to Dianne Reiling at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The couple farmed northeast of Willey and in 2004 moved to their home in Carroll. After they moved to Carroll Marvin continued to farm and since 1997 was also employed in the wood shop at the Pella Corporation. He was a former member of St. Mary Parish at Willey and currently was a member of St. Lawrence Parish, the Harley Owners Group, Carroll County Farm Bureau, and was an FFA sponsor. Marvin dearly loved his family, especially his grandson Joshua, and enjoyed farming, riding his Harley, woodworking, and target shooting. Survivors include his wife, Dianne Danner of Carroll; his children, Wendy Kirby of Des Moines, Martin Danner and wife Jamie of Carroll, and James Danner of Council Bluffs; his grandson, Joshua Kirby of Des Moines; his mother, Anna Danner of Carroll; brothers, Loren Danner and wife Pan of Carroll, and William Danner, Jr. and wife Barbara of Carroll; his sisters, Anna Mae Danner of Omaha, Nebr., Doris Pawol of Sun City, Ariz., and LaVonne Boetel of Manhattan, Kansas; his mother-in-law, Iola Hoogestraat of Carroll; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Art Renze of Glenwood, Larry and Vicki Reiling of Carroll, Sheila O’Tool of Carroll, and Jill and Cory Johnston of Carroll; and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; his father-in-law, John Hoogestraat; brothers-in-law, Jim Pawol, Gordon Boetel, and Daryl O’Tool; and nephews, Aaron Danner and Kevin O’Tool.
