Mary Case

Mary Case, 87 of Carroll, died Thursday morning, April 5, 2018 at Accura Healthcare of Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 9, 2018 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Kevin Richter. Music will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir. Mary’s great-grandchildren, Elli Sigler, Cassie Lohrmann, Peyton Walstrom, and Paige Walstrom will present the offertory gifts. Lector and Eucharistic Minister will be Rosie Obman. Casket Bearers will be Mary’s grandchildren: Jennifer Lohrmann, Michelle Sigler, Travis Case, Matt Case, Diane Walstrom, Alex Case, Emily Lamp and Claire Case. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3 p.m. on Sunday where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 5 p.m. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church in Monday morning where visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m. and will continue until time of the funeral mass. Born on February 26, 1931 in Crawford County, Mary was the daughter of Anthony and Sadie (Kline) Zimmerman. At a young age her family moved to Earling, Iowa. Mary attended St. Joseph School and graduated in 1950. On April 7, 1953, she was united in marriage to Francis Case at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling. The couple resided in Indiana and later relocated to Fonda and Dow City, Iowa. Mary was a devoted homemaker and loved caring for her family. While in Dow City, she was active in St. Mary’s Church. Mary enjoyed sporting events and school activities her family participated in. In 1994, Francis and Mary moved to Carroll where they became member of Holy Spirit Church and enjoyed meeting new friends. Mary is survived by her husband Francis Case of Carroll; her children: Dan (Teresa) Case of Grimes, Rod Case of Ft. Dodge, Mary Frances (Jeff) Malvern of Estes Park, CO, and Terry (Linette) Case of Humboldt; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Sandy (Ross) Gibilisco of Omaha, NE; her brother, Steve (Robin) Zimmerman of Newton; her brothers-in-law Mel Schwery of Arizona and Gene (Mona) Case of Manning; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and many friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Sadie Zimmerman; her grandson, Tim Case; and her sister, Sharon Schwery.
