Michael Leiting

Michael Leiting, 58 of Carroll, died Saturday, March 7, 2020 at his residence in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. John Paul II Parish-St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Shinoj Jose. Music will be by Marcy Anderson and the St. Lawrence Choir. Cross Bearer will be Tristan Janson. Lector for the Funeral Mass will be Peggy Leiting. Gift Bearers will be Leah Hoyl and Mariah Baumann. Casket Bearers will be: Jacob Leiting, Jay Schrad, Ben Terlisner, Jason Terlisner, Trevor Hoyl and Christopher Leiting. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 p.m. on Friday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 7 p.m. The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church on Saturday morning where visitation will continue from 9 to 9:45a.m. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, and online condolences may be left for Michael’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com. Born on December 30, 1961 in Carroll, Iowa, Michael was the son of Melvin and Marilyn (Mosman) Leiting. He spent his entire lifetime in Carroll and attended Carroll Community Schools. Michael lived with his parents and later became a resident of New Hope Village and New Hope Group Home. He enjoyed watching sports and talking with family and friends about sports. Michael was a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed fishing with his father Mel and bowling league on Thursday nights where he could bowl avidly right or left handed. Michael was a member of St. John Paul II – St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. Left to celebrate Michael’s life are his siblings: Marty Leiting of Glidden, Marcia (Alex) Espinoza of Arizona, Monte (Karen) Leiting of Carroll, Matt (Kathleen) Leiting of Arizona, Marshal (Tessa) Leiting of Carroll, Maury Leiting of Carroll, and Mitch (Lenny) Leiting of Arizona; his brother-in-law, Ken Terlisner of Ankeny; his sister-in-law, Peggy Leiting of Carroll; his guardian, Jerry Schrad of Carroll; as well as other extended relatives and his New Hope family. Michael was preceded in death by his parents; Melvin and Marilyn Leiting; his sister, Michele Terlisner; his brother, Marc Leiting; his sister-in-law, Carol Leiting, and great-nephew Mason Leiting.
