Neoma Ludwig

Neoma Ludwig, 95 of Carroll, died late Tuesday evening, February 3, 2015 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 9, 2015 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel. The Celebrant will be Fr. Gary Snyder. Con-Celebrant will be Fr. Lynn Bruch. Mass Servers will be Devon Bauer, Dakota Bauer, and Grant Wiederin. Music will be by Ann Pottebaum and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Choir. Lectors will be Neoma’s granddaughters: Sara Hobson and Jennifer Howder. Gift Bearers will be Neoma’s granddaughter, Mandy Lippolt, and great-grandchildren: Kaydon Erpelding, Kinzie Erpelding, Jacoby Hobson, and Jack Gehling. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Neoma’s granddaughters: Cindy Greiman, Sharon Erpelding, Sara Hobson, Jennifer Howder, Katie Leonard, and Mandy Lippolt. Casket Bearers will be Neoma’s grandsons: Kenneth Erpelding, Curtis Erpelding, Jeff Ludwig, Nick Gehling, Chris Gehling, and grandson-in-law Josh Hobson. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 p.m. on Sunday where there will be a Rosary at 3 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 5 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, and online condolences may be left for Neoma’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com. Born on May 20, 1919, Neoma was the daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Leiting) Loeffelholz. She grew up in the Mt. Carmel area, and attended school at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School. On February 18, 1941, Neoma was united in marriage to Arthur Ludwig at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel. The couple made their home north of Mt. Carmel where they were both active in the grain and livestock farming operation. In addition to helping Arthur on the farm, Neoma was a devoted homemaker. Neoma enjoyed her prayer and coffee groups, sewing, crocheting, and gardening. She was an ardent choir member, and enjoyed music. Most of all, Neoma enjoyed the time she spent with her family the most. Neoma was a lifelong, active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish. Left to celebrate Neoma’s life are her children: Dennis (Connie) Ludwig of Mt. Carmel, Eileen (Dave) Gehling of Wall Lake, and Joleen (Dave) Erpelding of Lake View; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Ella Mae Staiert of Harlan, Marguerite Broich of Carroll, Joann Manemann of St. Charles, MN, Alfred (Carol) Loeffelholz of Lennox, SD, Paul (Kay) Loeffelholz of Bozeman, MT. Mary Ann Ragaller of Westside, Ralph (Sandy) Loeffelholz of Cedar Rapids, Don (Karen) Loeffelholz of Kansas City, MO, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extend relatives. Neoma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur in 1985, a son Larry Ludwig in 2007, and her siblings: Walter Loeffelholz, Mardella Baumhover, and Mary Madelyn Loeffelholz in infancy.
