Robert Nagl

Robert Nagl, 81 of Carroll, died Wednesday evening, January 23, 2013 at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2013 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Roselle. The Celebrant will be Fr. Steve Brodersen. Music will be by Holy Angel’s Choir. Lector for the funeral mass will be Bob’s step-daughter, Nancy Cornelius. Gift Bearers will be Bob’s granddaughter, Lexi Wernimont and Bob’s great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Struve. Casket Bearers will be Bob’s grandsons’: Jeremy Gehling, Glen Cornelius, Taylor Gehling, Nick Goetzinger, Marshall Kohorst, Mike Struve, Nick Struve, and Todd Hansen. Burial will be at Holy Angel’s Cemetery in Roselle with military honors conducted by the Carroll American Legion. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home Carroll after 2:30 p.m. on Sunday where there will be a rosary at 3 p.m. by the Carroll Knights of Columbus and a Christian Wake Service by the parish at 5 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Bob’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com. Born on April 22, 1931 at rural Carroll, Iowa, Robert Louis was the son of Louis and Anna (Miller) Nagl. Bob attended Holy Angels School in Roselle. He served during the Korea War in the United States Army until his honorable discharge. In January of 1953 he married Mary Rose Schreck. To this union where four children: Daniel, Debra, Diane, and Dennis. In March of 1972 he married Delores (Schwabe) Gehling and they had one child, Bobbi Jo. Bob farmed near Roselle most of his lifetime and also raised cattle and did custom combining for several years. He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, family camping trips, reading, watching professional wrestling on television, and riding snowmobile with friends in the club, “Pop a Tops.” He loved spending time with his entire family. Bob was a member of Holy Angels Parish, Carroll American Legion, and the Carroll Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife Delores of Carroll; his children: Deb (Dan) Struve of Moville, Diane (Arden) Kohorst of Carroll, and Bobbi (Tony) Wernimont of Glidden; his step-children: Nancy (Dick) Cornelius of Sac City, Dale Gehling of Bonners Ferry, ID, LuAnn (Mike) Schlichte of Carroll, Danny Jo (Jeri) Gehling of Carroll, Sue (Craig) Hansen of Halbur, Tim (Julie) Gehling of Carroll, and Terry (Karen) Gehling of Carroll; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Sylvia Nagl of Carroll; as well as several other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Rose; two sons, Daniel and Dennis; his brother, Donald Nagl; and his sisters: Dorothy Renze, Lucille Wittry, and Anita Meyers.
