Ron Hannasch

Ron Hannasch, 85 of Carroll, died unexpectedly on Monday, June 22, 2026 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by his family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 27, 2026 at St. Lawrence Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Music will be by Kathy Halbur and Sherry Loughran. Lector for the Funeral Mass will be Ron’s son, Dan Hannasch. Gift Bearers will be Ron’s great-grandchildren. Eucharistic Minister will be Larry Neppl. Honorary Casket Bearers will be the staff at Sharp Funeral Home. Casket Bearers will be Ron’s grandchildren: Brett Hannasch, Colby Hannasch, Jacob Hannasch, Alex Golden, Jared Hannasch, and Emma Hannasch. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Following the burial, all are invited to join Ron’s family at Holy Spirit Church Greteman Center for a luncheon. Please note that the Funeral Mass will be held at St. Lawrence Church and the luncheon will be held in the Greteman Center at Holy Spirit Church. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll with a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for a later designation. Ronald James Hannasch was born on June 1, 1941, in Carroll, Iowa, the son of William and Adelaid (Schleman) Hannasch. He grew up in Arcadia and graduated from Kuemper High School with the Class of 1959. After graduation, Ron began working for Badding Construction in Carroll, where he dedicated 50 years of hard work and craftsmanship. Following his retirement from Badding, he continued serving the community by working with Kyle at Sharp Funeral Home beginning in 2010. On June 16, 1962, Ron was united in marriage to Diane Helen Neppl at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. Together they shared 64 beautiful years of marriage, built on faith, devotion, laughter, and unconditional love. They raised three children—Pam, Dan, and Steve—in Carroll, creating a home centered on family, kindness, and helping others. Ron was a devoted member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, where he served in many ways, including ushering, assisting with church expansion projects, and participating in the Men’s Club. His faith was a steady foundation throughout his life. Ron enjoyed collecting model cars, attending car shows, and taking on carpentry projects. He was always willing to lend a hand—helping his children with home improvement projects, working with his son Steve doing woodworking and assisting neighbors and community members whenever they called. His generosity and quiet dependability touched many lives. Ron is survived by his wife, Diane, of Carroll; his children Pam (Kriss) Golden of Savage, MN; Dan (Deb) Hannasch of Carroll; and Steve (Jill) Hannasch of Glidden; his grandchildren Brandon Golden, Alex Golden (partner Kayla Lewis), Brett (Nikole) Hannasch, Colby (Lauren) Hannasch, Jacob (Maggie) Hannasch, Jared (Taylor) Hannasch, and Emma Hannasch (Eli Honken); and his great-grandchildren Riley Golden, Caleb, Wyatt, Harper, Waverly, Walker, and Maverick Hannasch. He is also survived by his sister Carol Klocke of Carroll; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Darlene Wittrock, Art (June) Neppl, Audrey (Wayne) Siepker, Larry (Wendy) Neppl and Joan Hannasch; as well as many nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law Bernard and Lucille Neppl; his brother Dale; his brothers-in-law Orville Neppl, Vic Wittrock, and Wayne Klocke; and his sister-in-law Jane Neppl.
