Ron Sundrup

Ronald Bernard Sundrup, 87, of Arcadia, died Thursday, February 27, 2025, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by his family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2025 at St. John Catholic Church in Arcadia. The Celebrant will be Fr. Terry Roder. Music by Sharon Bierl and the St. John Choir. Lectors will be Erin Sundrup, Cristina White and Mia White. Gift Bearers will be Hank Sundrup, Theo White, Ben White, Eli White, and Ethan White. Honorary Gift Bearer will be Helios White Guiterrez. Casket Bearers will be Nate White, Cody White, Seth Hoveland, Kyle Sundrup, Ryan Sundrup, and Luke Sundrup. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Kate White, Nicole Hoveland, Chelsea, and Antonio Guiterrez. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery in Arcadia. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 pm on Friday, March 7, at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll with a rosary at 7:00 pm. There will be no visitation at the church on Saturday morning prior to the Funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left at the church or the funeral home for New Hope Village Foundation. Ron was born on September 29, 1937, in Carroll, the son of William and Rita (Schroeder) Sundrup of Arcadia. He was the eldest of nine children. He grew up in Arcadia and attended St. John Elementary and Arcadia High School. After graduation, he spent one summer in Chicago doing curb and gutter work. After returning to Arcadia, he went to work for Farmers Coop Elevator. On November 8, 1958, he was united in marriage to Helen Jane Berg at St. John Church in Arcadia. Six children were born to this union. In 1967, Ron purchased his father’s trucking business, which he owned for over 50 years. Ron enjoyed driving trucks, hauling livestock, fuel, and feed ingredients; calling it his hobby. Despite health issues, he continued to drive until the age of 81. He loved his dogs, especially miniature dachshunds. He spent a lot of time in Branson and enjoyed polka music. He spent countless summers in Okoboji with his family on vacation. He was an avid Cubs fan and loved watching games with his grandsons. He loved to work with his hands and did many remodeling projects over the years. He and Helen were passionate about travel and enjoyed many cruises and trips overseas. Ron was a lifelong member of St. John Parish and served the parish in many capacities over the years. Ron is survived by his wife Helen; his children Christie Sundrup (Bernie Hansman) of Carroll, Terri (Todd) White of Windsor Heights, Rusty Sundrup of Carroll, Shari Sundrup of Carroll, Dave Sundrup of Carroll, Rick (Erin) Sundrup of Arcadia; Grandchildren - Nate (Kate) White and their children Mia, Theo, Ben; Nicole (Seth) Hoveland; Cody (Cristina) White and their children Eli and Ethan; Chelsea (Antonio) Guiterrez and their child Helios; Kyle, Ryan, Luke and Hank Sundrup; his brother Dennis Sundrup; his sisters Karen Martens, Kathleen Sundrup, Judy Davis, Diane Sundrup, Patti (Steve) Sundermann, Barb Boldt; his in-laws Alice Sundrup, Norma Goecke, Marie Berg, Vern (Pat) Berg, Jim (Paulette) Berg; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. Ron is preceded in death by his parents William and Rita Sundrup; his brother Bob Sundrup, his brother-in-law Jeff Boldt; his parent-in-laws Joe and Christine Berg; his in- laws Jerry Goecke, Don (Della) Berg, Jerry Berg, Dean (Linda) Berg and Ron (Lorna) Berg; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
