Ruth Bellinghausen

Ruth Bellinghausen, age 86, of Mt. Carmel, Iowa, died Monday, July 26, 2010, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, July 29, 2010, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Mt. Carmel. The Celebrant will be Father Joe Dillinger. Lector will be Casey Bellinghausen. Gift Bearers will be Ruth’s children, Jean Bellinghausen, John Bellinghausen, and Jim Bellinghausen. Mass Servers will be Andrew and Ryan Evans. Eucharistic Ministers will be Jim Baumhover, Judy Huegerich, and Kenneth Nees. Casket Bearers will be Timothy Bellinghausen, Zachary Bellinghausen, Mike Irlbeck, Jerry Wernimont, Phil Bock, and Ralph Bock. Burial will be at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Mt. Carmel. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 P.M. Wednesday. A rosary will be prayed at 3 P.M. Wednesday by the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Altar Society. There will be a Christian wake service at 6 P.M. Wednesday by Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish. Ruth was born on September 27, 1923, at Willey, Iowa, the daughter of Victor and Elisabeth (Goecke) Wernimont. She attended St. Mary School at Willey, graduated from St. Angela Academy in Carroll, and then graduated from Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colorado, with a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics. Ruth and Ralph P. Bellinghausen were married on September 8, 1956, at Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Denver. The couple farmed near Roselle and Auburn and in 1967 moved to their farm home east of Mt. Carmel. Ruth had been employed in the accounting departments at McCoy Motors, Whaley Chevrolet, Sernett Department Store, and Schettler Seed Company until her retirement. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish and Parish Altar Society. Ruth dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and enjoyed reading, dancing, and had a thirst for knowledge. Survivors include her daughter, Jean Bellinghausen of Omaha, Nebr.; her sons, John Bellinghausen and wife Terri of Loveland, Colorado, and Jim Bellinghausen and wife Rebecca of Tyler, Texas; grandchildren, Joshua, Casey, Alison, Timothy, and Zachary Bellinghausen; a brother, Leo Wernimont and wife Collette of Fonda; sisters, Margaret Reiman of Ayrshire, and Eileen Herbers of Ayrshire; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marie Wernimont of Carroll, Juanita Bellinghausen of Carroll, Sister Mardelle Bellinghausen F.S.P.A. of LaCrosse, Wisc., Francis Bellinghausen of Yetter, Regina Bellinghausen of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Ralph Bock of Glidden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Bellinghausen, in August 1995; her parents; a daughter-in-law, Kristi Bellinghausen; and a brother, Walter Wernimont.
