Ruth Ann Quandt

Ruth Quandt, 86, of Carroll, died Sunday, August 23, 2015, at the Hawkeye Care Center in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Mass Servers will be Lucas Hauser, and Aaron Hauser. Music will be by Barb McDermott, and the Holy Spirit Choir. Lector will be Karla Quandt. Gift Bearers will be Jessie Haubrich, Katie Terlisner, Jenna Campbell, and Karla Quandt. Eucharistic Minister will be Jenna Campbell. Casket Bearers will be Joe Quandt, Jeremy Heinrichs, Tyler Quandt, Tony Quandt, Trevin Quandt, and Jenny Hauser. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, where there will be a Rosary prayed at 5 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at Holy Spirit Church starting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, and will continue until the time of the funeral mass. Born on May 13, 1929 in Crawford County, Iowa, Ruth Ann was the daughter of Charles and Alice (Kullberg) Peterson. She grew up in Crawford County and attended country school. On February 8, 1950 Ruth married Norman Quandt at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Charter Oak. The couple lived in Neola, Charter Oak, and Willey, before moving to Carroll in 1966. Over the years Ruth held various jobs including: working at the Carroll Area Child Care Center, cooking at St. Anthony’s Hospital, and St. Mary’s School in Willey, and she also worked at the Carroll Health Center. Ruth enjoyed cooking, baking, playing Bingo, gambling, scratch tickets, and her many trips to Branson. Most of all Ruth enjoyed the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ruth was a member of the Holy Spirit Ladies Guild, and Holy Spirit Parish. Left to celebrate Ruth’s life are her children: Daniel (Mary Kay) Quandt of Des Moines, Dale (Margaret) Quandt of Carroll, and Denise (Tim) Heinrichs of Maple River; her grandchildren: Jenny (Jamie) Hauser of LeMars, Joe Quandt of Gladbrook, Katie (Ben) Terlisner of Des Moines, Karla Quandt of Des Moines, Tyler Quandt of Carroll, Tony (Ashley) Quandt of Ankeny, Trevin Quandt of West Des Moines, Jeremy (Tawnya) Heinrichs of Carroll, Jessie (Jon) Haubrich of Carroll, and Jenna (Steve) Campbell of Storm Lake; 13 great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Lucas, and Aaron Hauser, Wesley, and Simon Terlisner, Abby, and Kenzie Heinrichs, Marissa, Jacob, Miley, and Jase Haubrich, Callie Campbell, Lydia Quandt, and one on the way; also surviving is her sister: Lorraine Bral of Denison; her sisters-in-law, Marie Peterson of Denison, Pearl Quandt of Carroll, Veronica Quandt of Lidderdale, Velma Quandt of Council Bluffs, LaRue Quandt of Denison, and Dorothy Kluver of Carroll; her brother-in-law: Jim (Donna) Quandt of Westside; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norman on July 8, 1994, brothers: Wilfred, Lloyd, Edward, and Charles; sisters: Clara, Gladys, Mabel, Elise, and Evelyn.
