Ryan Greteman

Ryan Greteman, 27 of Carroll, passed away Thursday morning, February 18, 2016 at his home in Carroll surrounded by his family and close friends. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Music will be by Sue Feilmeier and Jake Gute. Lector for the funeral mass will be P.J. Greteman. Gift Bearers will be Cooper and Conor Greteman. Eucharistic Minister will be Jackie Reineke. Casket Bearers will be: Travis Hook, Brett Eischeid, Seth Renze, Luke Kennebeck, Matt Prenger, and Brian Lemker. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. The Carroll 4th Degree Knights of Columbus will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4 p.m. on Friday where there will be a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Rosary at 5 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church on Saturday morning where visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for the family of Ryan Greteman. Ryan, the son of Frank and Cheryl (Tigges) Greteman, was born June 26, 1988 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Carroll, Iowa. He grew up in Carroll and graduated from Kuemper High School in 2007. Ryan studied business at Buena Vista University and graduated in 2012 with his Bachelor’s Degree. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Lawrence, where he was a member. He was Fourth Degree in the Knights of Columbus. Ryan loved spending time with his friends and family. He enjoyed going fishing, playing disc golf, and playing video games with his friends. He loved spending time with his niece and nephew. He was very grounded in his roots, and was proud of his heritage. Ryan was a bookworm, but also, a fitness enthusiast. He loved working out and running for miles on Sauk Rail Trail. His legacy, though, was his store, Gamers Paradise. His dream all through school was to open his own store. It was something he worked very hard for and was very proud of accomplishing. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Frank and Cheryl Greteman of Carroll, three brothers: Chris Greteman of Denver, Colorado, Eric Greteman of Carroll, and Shawn Greteman of Denver, Colorado, his Godchildren: Cash and Nora Greteman, his best friend, Travis Hook, and the love of his life, Ashley Pogge, along with numerous other relatives and friends. Ryan is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul and Norma Greteman, his maternal grandparents, Aldred and Wanda Tigges; his uncle, Jeff Tigges; his uncle, Patrick Greteman; his cousin, Dale Reineke, and his friend, Jason Killeen.
