Sandra Williams

Sandra (Schleisman) Williams, 63 of Sioux City, and formerly of Carroll, died Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Centerville Care Center in Centerville, South Dakota. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 9, 2023 at St. Lawrence Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Music will be by Jane Heithoff. Lector for the Funeral Mass will be Kathy Schleisman. Gift Bearers will be Lisa Staley and Carla Frese. Eucharistic Minister will be Craig Schleisman. Casket Bearers will be Kevin Oetken, Alex Schleisman, Adam Schleisman, Aaron Schleisman, Dan Moody and Matt Warren. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. There will be no public visitation prior to the Funeral Mass. The daughter of Dennis and Joan (Hannasch) Schleisman, Sandra was born on November 11, 1959 in Rochester, Minnesota. The oldest of 5 children, the family lived north of Lidderdale where she attended Mt. Carmel Catholic Grade School, graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1978 and then attended Iowa Central College. In 1982, Sandra was united in marriage to Scott Williams at Holy Family Church in Lidderdale. After a short while in Oakland, Iowa, they made their home in Sioux City, Iowa. To this union were 3 children, Shawn, Ryan and Brittny. Her happiest times were spent caring for others. In her younger years she worked at Jung’s Bakery serving customers the classic long johns. She loved caring for her children as well as welcoming many other children into her home as a daycare provider. In her later years, she enjoyed serving big hot meals to her family and friends. Her greatest love was her children and grandchildren. Sandra is survived by her children: Shawn (Jillean) Williams of Kansas City, Missouri, Ryan (Bethany) Williams of Kansas City, Missouri and Brittny (Kevin) Oetken of Lincoln, Nebraska; her father, Dennis (Norma) Schleisman of Carroll; Hayden, Hadley ,Oliver and Graham Williams; her siblings: Lisa (John) Staley, Craig (Kathy) Schleisman, Steve (Theresa) Schleisman, and Carla (Corey) Frese; as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended relatives. Sandra was preceded in death by her mother, Joan Schleisman, and her grandparents, Lester and Vi Schleisman, and Edward and Anna Hannasch.
