Teresa A. Cornelius

Teresa Cornelius, 86, of Carroll, died Friday, April 11, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Music will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir. Lector will be Nancy Cornelius. Gift Bearers will be Bailey Wright, Brandy Wright and Sonnie Michelle Cornelius. Casket Bearers will be Bill Reetz, Scott Reetz, Glen Cornelius, Corey Cornelius, Brian Wright, Lance Haars, Paul Hinners, and Luke Reetz. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carroll. Visitation will begin at Holy Spirit Church after 11 a.m. Tuesday, until the time of the funeral mass. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Teresa’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com. Born on October 7, 1927 in Carroll County, Teresa was the daughter of Alois and Blanche (Schmittes) Miller. She attended St. Angela’s Academy where she later graduated. On June 10, 1946 she was united in marriage to Glen Cornelius at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll. Teresa and Glen were grain and livestock farmers near Glidden, where Teresa was very active in the farming operation. Teresa worked in various healthcare positions around the Carroll area. She later retired from the Carroll Health Center. Teresa was a very gifted seamstress, able to crochet, sew, and embroider. She also enjoyed reading. Teresa was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. Survivors include her children: Dianna (Dennis) Reetz of Carroll, Jim (Pat) Cornelius of Perry, Joyce (Roger) Behrens of Carroll, Russ (Barb) Cornelius of Carroll, Margie (Craig) Cory of Ackley, Annette Douglas of Glidden, and Joann (Floyd) Laxson of Carroll; a daughter-in-law Nancy Cornelius of Sac City; 20 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 15 step great-grandchildren; siblings Carolyne (Roy) Clark of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Florence Daniels of Lidderdale; brother-in-law: David (Marcy) Cornelius of Arlington, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glen, in 1971; two sons: Kenny Cornelius, and Richard Cornelius; an infant daughter: Gloria Cornelius; son-in-law: Kent Douglas; grandchildren: Paul Cory, Tracy Rose; and a step grandson-in-law Tim Simmons.
