Virgil D. Neumayer

Virgil “Buddy” Neumayer, age 84, of Breda, Iowa, died late Sunday evening, September 26, 2010 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m., Thursday at St. Bernard’s Church in Breda. The celebrant will be Father Joe Dillinger. Mass Servers will be Bentley Wernimont and Sam Kemper. Lectors will be Kim Wiese, Angie Davis, Beth Seidl, and Becky Neppl. Gift Bearers will be Ashley Loneman, Jennifer Neumayer, Julie Neppl, and Emily Neumayer. Eucharistic Minister will be Allison Meisheid. Casket Bearers will be Kevin Neumayer, Brian Neumayer, Ryan Meisheid, Brent Meisheid, Jeff Loneman, and Corey Loneman. The Breda Catholic Order of Foresters will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Burial will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery at Breda. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left and the funeral home or the church for the Breda Volunteer EMT’s. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Breda after 2:30 p.m, Wednesday. There will be a rosary prayed by the Breda Catholic Order of Foresters at 3 p.m., followed by a Christian Wake Service by the parish at 6 p.m. Virgil was born on July 19, 1926 at Breda, Iowa the son of Anton and Mary (Damm) Neumayer. He grew up in the Breda area and attended St. Bernard’s Grade School. Following his schooling Buddy began farming. On May 5, 1947 he was married to Betty Van Erdewyk at St. Bernard’s Church in Breda, Iowa by Father Leroy Frank. Buddy farmed east of Breda and stayed active in the farming operation for his entire life. In 1984 Buddy and Betty moved from the farm into Breda. Buddy loved farming, taking road trips to check the crops, and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Bernard’s Church in Breda, and the Breda Catholic Order of Foresters. Survivors include his wife Betty of Breda; his children: Clifford Neumayer and his wife Janet of Breda, Clyde Neumayer and his wife Christy of Breda, Nancy Meisheid and her husband Tom of Aurora, CO., JoAnn Neppl of Humboldt, and Dean Neumayer of West Des Moines; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; son in-law, Mike Loneman and his wife Terri of Huxley; sister, Darlene Oswald and her husband Paul of Carroll; step-brothers: Duane Ludwig and his wife Betty of Sioux Rapids, Norman Ludwig and his wife Mary of Breda, Orvie Ludwig and his wife Edna of Carroll; step sister-in-law, Norma Jean Ludwig of Vail. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, LuAnn Loneman; son-in-law, Mike Neppl; sister in infancy, Mary Neumayer; step-brother Romaine Ludwig; step-father, Tony Ludwig.
