Wanda Tigges

Wanda Tigges, age 74 of Carroll, formerly of Willey, died early Monday morning, March 7, 2011 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m., Friday at St. Mary’s Church in Willey. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Lector for the funeral mass will be Matt Tigges. Gift Bearers will be Wanda’s granddaughters: Rachel Riesberg, Sarah Riesberg, and Kendra Riesberg. Eucharistic Ministers will be Wanda’s daughters: Jackie Reineke and Kathy Riesberg. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Wanda’s grandsons: Neil Reineke, Eric Greteman, Ryan Greteman, Chris Greteman, Luke Tigges, and Jesse McCollough. Casket Bearers will be Wanda’s grandsons: Glen Reineke, Dan Broich, Shawn Greteman, Peter Tigges, Justin Tigges, and Jamie McCollough. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Willey. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m., Thursday where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m., followed by a Christian Wake Service by the parish at 7 p.m. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for St. Mary’s Parish. Born on June 22, 1936 at Gray, Iowa, Wanda was the daughter of Sam and Hazel (Anderson) Lawson. She spent her younger years in the Gray community and attended Gray Consolidated School, graduating with the Class of 1954. Wanda married Aldred “Allie” Tigges on January 28, 1956 at St. Joseph’s Church in Dedham, Iowa. The couple farmed near Willey and Wanda was a homemaker for her entire life. In May of 2000, Wanda moved to Carroll. She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish and Parish Ladies Guild, and the Dedham American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her children: Jackie Reineke and her husband Russ of Carroll, Bob Tigges of Manning, Cheryl Greteman of Carroll, Ken Tigges and his wife Christy of Ankeny, Kathy Riesberg and her husband Doug of Carroll, and Jeff Tigges of Defiance; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; one sister, Grace Campbell of Audubon; sisters in-law and brothers in-law: Lois Lawson of Audubon, Alma Klocke of Templeton, Tina Van Dyke of Carroll, Ed Tigges of Willey, Joe (Freda) Tigges of Dedham, and Don (Marlene) Tigges of Carroll, as well as many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband “Allie” in October, 1999; a grandson, Dale Reineke; one sister, Edith Stoberl; and one brother, Roy “Sam” Lawson.
