Yvonne Broich

Yvonne A. (Langel) Broich, 95, died Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Valley View Village in Des Moines with family at her side. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 11, 2026 at St. Lawrence Church - St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Concelebrant will be Fr. Allan Reicks. Music will be by Kathy Halbur and Kathleen Macke. Lector for the Funeral Mass will be Jim Heithoff. Gift Bearers will be Sharon Fertig and Shelly Leon. Eucharistic Minister will be Paul Milligan. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Sue Riesselman, Marlys Yawarsky, Jean Broich, Kevin Langel, and David Langel. Casket Bearers will be Ron Schettler, Craig Langel, Jim Langel, Mike Broich, Rick Broich, and Dale Klocke. The Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas will form an honor guard for the Funeral Mass. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass. Yvonne was born February 10, 1931, in Templeton, Iowa, to Joe and Mary (Bauer) Langel. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Templeton in 1948. She married Thomas Broich on January 10, 1953, and they made their home in Carroll. She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish in Carroll and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Yvonne worked at Commercial Savings Bank for 30 years from 1962-1992 where she developed lasting friendships among fellow employees and customers. An active person throughout her life, Yvonne enjoyed walking and playing cards. She volunteered at St. Anthony's Hospital gift shop and the Outpatient Surgical Center where her friendly personality touched many patients, visitors and staff. She found joy in books for many years and later embraced word find puzzles, often keeping several puzzle books going at the same time. Above all, Yvonne cherished her family and held a special place in the hearts of many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her brother Elmer (Imelda) Langel of Manning; sisters-in-law Delores (Vern-deceased) Langel of Omaha, Nebraska, Marilyn (Dale-deceased) Snyder of Carroll, Laurel Jean (Dennis) Heithoff of Willey; and brothers-in-law Don Schettler (Edna-deceased) of Omaha, Nebraska, and Ron (Joleen-deceased) Klocke and John (Mary Jo) Broich of Carroll. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom; her parents; her mother and father-in-law John and Emilia Broich; her sisters Bernita Broich and Edna Schettler; her brother LaVern; her brothers-in-law Bob Broich, Marvin Broich, Clayton Broich, Jerry Broich, Vern Langel and Dale Snyder; and her sisters-in-law Joleen Klocke, Doris Broich, Edra Broich, and Louetta Langel. Yvonne will be remembered for her warmth, kindness and genuine love of people. She never met a stranger and had an ability to strike up a conversation with anyone she encountered. Her bright smile, kind nature and welcoming spirit made others feel instantly at ease. Her kindness, sense of humor and loving presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
