Zachary Campbell

Zachary Terry Campbell, age 70, of Maple River, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, with a Celebration of Life service at 4:30 pm by Pastor Patrick Henderson from Grace Christian Fellowship. Private family burial will be held at a later date in the St. Francis Cemetery at Maple River. Born May 14, 1954, to Thomas and Evelyn (Casteel) Campbell in Jefferson, Iowa, Zach was the second of three children and spent most of his young life in the Churdan and Algona areas until moving to Maple River in 1968, where he met the love of his life Diane (Loneman) Campbell. Zach and Diane were married on March 10, 1973, and they raised their family in the house he built and started their legacy together. The 1973 Carroll High School graduate was a true master of trades. His vast experience ranged from backyard mechanics to the largest machinery that built the roads of Iowa. Zach was employed by S&S Store in high school. He extended his experience to Schroeders and Sons Construction Company as a CAT and Scrapper operator. After working road construction for approximately 10 years, Zach again broadened his expertise as a butcher and bacon trimmer for Farmland. Zach then transitioned into an extended career as an electrician where he earned master electrician status with Menninga Electric, eventually retiring from Lohrmann Electric. Zach’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, wood and leather work, bird watching, horses, WWE Wrestling and spending time with his family. Zach was a motorcycle enthusiast who would often be found working in the garage or with Louie, hill-climbing at Kings Hill with a PBR by his side, and an occasional snooze at the kitchen table. But most of all, Zach treasured his precious time with his wife, kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Zach is survived by his wife Diane of 51 years; three children: Zacharina Winker (Rex), Shaleena Janssen (Zach), Kay Hager (Allan); stepson Jason Morrisey (Teresa); a brother Thomas Campbell; Zach’s grandchildren: Emily Winker, Austin Wiskus, Addison (Jaydon) Housken, Cortnee and Brylee Janssen, Mabel Hager, Drew (Logan) Mayrose, and Brenna Morrisey; great-grandchildren: Cole and Paige Housken, and Jaxson Mayrose; brothers-in-law: Ken Loneman and Jerry Loneman; and sisters-in-law: Donna Venteicher, Nancy Julich and Brenda Loneman; Along with numerous nieces and nephews. Zach was preceded in death by his parents and sister Melody Malone; His grandson and granddaughter Tucker and Alyx Janssen; Diane’s parents Lawrence and Darnella (Reis) Loneman; brothers-in-law: Ray Julich, Ron Venteicher and Richard Loneman; and a sister-in-law Barb Loneman.
